Description
The Rubber Plant (Ficus elastica) pairs beautifully with modern interiors: broad, glossy leaves in deep green on a strong upright stem. It is far more forgiving than its delicate looks suggest.
It adapts to a range of indoor light, grows steadily, and can be pruned to stay bushy or trained into a small indoor tree. A quick wipe of the leaves keeps them glossy and dust-free — and helps the plant breathe in air-conditioned rooms.
Care guide
- Light: Bright indirect light; tolerates a little direct morning sun.
- Water: When the top 3 cm of soil feels dry. Reduce in cooler months.
- Humidity: Average indoor humidity suits it well.
- Pruning: Pinch or prune in spring to encourage branching.
- Pets: Keep away from pets; mildly toxic if chewed.
